Freak On A Leash! How To Work Through Leash Reactivity
Being that this is a very common issue, I guess the first question is what is leash reactivity?
Why do a lot of dogs lunge or become aggressive when on a leash?
Is it simply lack of socialization or training?
Is reactivity just part of your dog’s temperament?
Does this start at a certain age?
Ok, so how would we train our dog to be less reactive?
Are Certain Breeds More Likely to be Leash Reactive?
Not knowing how two dogs will react to each other during their first meeting, how would you recommend introducing two dogs? Would that be on a leash?
And sometimes it’s not just other dogs…sometimes dogs react to people, cars, bikes, trucks, skateboards and more.
How did you get started in dog training?
I know that you are an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. Can you share with us more about the program?

The Wag Out Loud pawdcast is supported by listeners like you! I started the show as a passion project that would help all of us make well-informed decisions for our dogs’ health and well-being. After many amazing guests, intriguing topics and incredible feedback, I realized the WOL pawdcast is exactly what I wanted to do. I am mission-driven and work hard to produce the best possible show I can, and I trust that if you find value in my work and have the means, you will choose to contribute. It would not be possible to consistently produce a quality show without the listener support that I receive. Thanks to all of the dog lovers out there!
