Dog Food: There Has to be a Better Way!
Amy Budd is the Founder of Big Bear Pet Company and has been critter crazy her whole life! Her initial path in college was veterinary medicine but after working in a clinic after obtaining her bachelors and realizing she was the worst combination of Dr. Doolittle and Dr. Hariett, it became obvious that was not the best plan. Amy came to the pet industry almost 20 years ago somewhat by accident, initially wanting to provide baked treats for horses and dogs. Her passion grew beyond yummy treats for tail wags and whinnies, into wanting to provide premium nutrition for beloved family members. As her knowledge base grew about the industry it fueled the fire to provide real, whole food for pets that owners could trust.
During this episode Amy shares what she is seeing in the industry and why she decided to make her own food, going over and above the minimum guidelines.
You have a degree in Animal Science. How did you "accidentally" get into the pet food business?
What are the pluses of dehydrated food?
How about raw?
Why are you so particular about your processing?

The Wag Out Loud pawdcast is supported by listeners like you! I started the show as a passion project that would help all of us make well-informed decisions for our dogs’ health and well-being. After many amazing guests, intriguing topics and incredible feedback, I realized the WOL pawdcast is exactly what I wanted to do. I am mission-driven and work hard to produce the best possible show I can, and I trust that if you find value in my work and have the means, you will choose to contribute. It would not be possible to consistently produce a quality show without the listener support that I receive. Thanks to all of the dog lovers out there!
